Have you every started your fitness program and got hit by so many excuses that you end up not completing it, or having to restart every couple of weeks?
Starting a health and fitness journey can be overwhelming for a lot of people, especially when it is something newly integrated into their lifestyle.
So how do we stay on our program, stay on track to get to our end goal?
Set meaningful goals
Try to avoid just setting goals based on your appearance. It is a lot more rewarding for you to feel good about yourself than have others accept you based on your external appearance. Yes, you want to look good, but you also want to think deeply about why you truly want to be a certain way. Only then you will find your true motivation to stick to your program.
Accountability
Get closer to your goals by making yourself accountable. Accountability is important. Only you can push yourself to get to where you want to be.
Take before & after pictures!
Taking pictures of yourself when you first start as well as during your fitness journey will allow you to see how you progress. Sometimes it is hard to see yourself change visually because you look in the mirror daily. By taking photos, you can really compare and see your progress.
Plan
Plan your week and cross off the days on a calendar after completing a task. It sounds cheesy but it works.
Do what you enjoy
Health and fitness isn’t only about going to the gym and eating kale. You need to do what you enjoy to stay on track. For some this might be running, others might be playing badminton and so on. Find ways to stay active with what you like doing.
Find your Motivation
Think and reflect deeply to find why you truly want to become healthy and fit. This reason is going to be the driving force to keep you on track.
Listen to your body
It is OK to take a rest day and do nothing. If your body is overworked and tired, rest. You are doing more harm than good if you push yourself. Instead of progressing, you will regress as the stress on your body won’t make you improve.
Now that you have the tools to keep yourself on track, lets try and apply them! ☺
